Michael Fletcher, known to many as 'MEGAHBASS', is a highly accomplished and classically trained guitarist hailing from the United Kingdom (UK). Having relocated to Jamaica at a young age, he developed an unwavering passion for the bass guitar, ultimately making it his primary instrument. His professional music journey began in 1987 where he joined the esteemed 809 Band.

In 1996, Michael's exceptional musical abilities led him to assume the pivotal roles of bandleader, musical director and bassist for the one and only Orville Burrell widely known as Shaggy aka "Mr. Boombastic". This became the catalyst for Michael's illustrious career and prompted performances, tours and recordings alongside esteemed acts such as Dennis Brown, Gregory Issacs, Shabba Ranks, Beenie Man, Freddie McGregor, Buju Banton, Beres Hammond, The I-Threes, Machel Montano, Alison Hinds, Monty Alexander, Diana King, Macy Gray, Sean Paul, Jah Cure, Heather Headley, Envogue and Maxi Priest just to name a few.
From 2010 to 2016, a conscious decision was made with the encouragement by long time friend Ibo Cooper (Former Keyboardist of 'Third World') to give back to the music industry. Here Michael assumed the role of Pop Ensemble lecturer at the esteemed Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica. During this time, he diligently mentored and provided invaluable exposure to aspiring young musicians, some of whom are currently renowned touring musicians today. Michael's unwavering dedication stems from the desire to share his exceptional talent and views music as a catalyst for growth and exposure for the younger generation worldwide.
In 2018, Michael was requested by the management team of International Italian reggae artist 'Alborosie' to serve as band leader and musical director where he refined the artiste's musical ensemble.

All in All, Michael 'MEHAGBASS' Fletcher's talent and dedication remains recognized and celebrated extensively in the music industry. His wide-ranged experience has earned him the title of 'Edutainer' (educator and entertainer) and it is safe to say that he is vital in the nurturing of the next generation of musicians.
Why Listen, Interprete, Execute?
Over the years as a touring musician my motto "Listen. Interpret. Execute." has taught me practices of great musicianship. This motto has also been passed down to students throughout my years as an educator and mentor who can attest to its productivity in their careers.
LISTENING to what one will play is pertinent after which the steps to study what has been listened takes place.
Learning to use your creative tools to INTERPRET what has been studied.
Lastly, we EXECUTE. Our cognitive interpretation of what we have heard with our ears , our mouths will express and through this we present with our bodies and souls connected to our instruments.
